The Lord Mayor succeeds Bavaria’s State Minister of Economic Affairs Ilse Aigner in due rotation.
Dieter Reiter, the Lord Mayor of Munich, has been elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Messe München GmbH. He assumes the chairmanship for the period of office from 2017 to 2019 and succeeds Bavarian State Minister of Economic Affairs Ilse Aigner, the Chairwoman of the supervisory body until now. Ilse Aigner has been elected First Deputy Chairwoman by the members of the Supervisory Board. Additional Deputy Chairmen are Heinrich Traublinger, Honorary President of the Chamber of Trade and Crafts for Munich and Upper Bavaria, and Stefan Ostermeier, Works Council Chairman at Messe München.
Dieter Reiter: “I’m pleased to be Chairman of the Supervisory Board of such a successful company. Rising visitor and exhibitor numbers and a growing volume of sales show that Messe München’s course is the right one. I look forward to working constructively together with the Management Board and all members of staff of the trade fair. A strong Messe München benefits the entire business location of Bavaria.”
Klaus Dittrich, Chairman & CEO of Messe München GmbH: “I’m delighted that Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter is prepared to take up the chairmanship of the Supervisory Board at Messe München. He is always a committed partner where the fortunes of Messe München are concerned, whether it’s in the enlargement of the exhibition center or our plans for growth abroad.” Klaus Dittrich also thanked Minister of Economic Affairs Ilse Aigner for her active support. Her period of office saw the two biggest acquisitions of trade shows in the history of Messe München as well as the first cut of the spade in the construction of new Halls C5 and C6.
Chairmanship of the supervisory body changes every three years by rotation between the two main shareholders of Messe München, i.e. the Free State of Bavaria and the City of Munich. Each of these provides five members. The 18-member Supervisory Board is completed by Peter Driessen, Managing Director of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria, Heinrich Traublinger on behalf of the Chamber of Trade and Crafts for Munich and Upper Bavaria, and six employee representatives of Messe München.
