After 28 successful years at Messe München, Tobias Gröber is leaving the company at the end of April 2025 and is taking up a new and responsible challenge within the trade fair industry. At Messe München he is the Division Manager for the consumer good trade fairs. As Executive Director Tobias Gröber is responsible for the international ISPO Group, including the OutDoor, for INHORGENTA, Europe‘s leading trade fair for jewelry, watches and gemstones, and since 2020 also for IAA MOBILITY‘s Munich team.
Responsible for the successful continuation of the ISPO Group in Munich and abroad is now Exhibition Director Lena Haushofer with her strong management team around Christoph Rapp (Head of Sales & Marketing) and Saskia Rettenbacher (Head of Event Management). She reports to Harald Kirchschlager, Executive Director Corporate Strategy. The customer‘s contact person for INHORGENTA MUNICH continues to be Exhibition Director Stefanie Mändlein and for IAA MOBILITY Exhibition Director Christine von Breitenbuch. This ensures continuity in the collaboration with customers at all times.
“We would like to thank Tobias Gröber for his extraordinary commitment, which he has displayed from day one at Messe München, and with which he contributed to the success of our company”, say Messe München‘s two CEOs Stefan Rummel und Reinhard Pfeiffer: “In good times just as in difficult times, Tobias Gröber led his trade fairs creatively, with innovative concepts and great knowledge of the industry and was able to get people excited about his trade fairs.”
“After 28 years full of challenges, successes and experiences at Messe München, it is time for me to start a new chapter and to take the next step in the development of my professional career within the trade fair industry”, explains Tobias Gröber his decision: “It is with great gratitude that I look back on my time at Messe München and at the same time I'm looking forward to the exciting tasks that are lying ahead of me. Over the last decades, I was allowed to work with a highly motivated and committed team and with great people within my consumer goods industries. All of this makes me grateful and proud.” Tobias Gröber always follows his motto: “ISPO—it's not a job, it's a way of life.”
At Messe München, Tobias Gröber was able to build a unique career from intern to Division Manager of international events. After studying Sports Economics in Bayreuth, he started as an intern at ISPO in 1997. The sports virus never left him. In 1999 he was appointed as Project Manager of ISPO and after just five years was promoted in 2004 to Division Manager for the consumer goods trade fairs and is therefore also responsible for INHORGENTA MUNICH. In 2020 he also became Head of the international ISPO Group and thus also Head of the two sports trade fairs in China and the OutDoor.
